About The Course
ABOUT THE COURSE
Join Andrew for 3 months of online mentoring and feedback sessions as well as ongoing support through a private facebook group. This mentoring will provide in-depth and personalised support, guidance and encouragement, providing a framework to progress your practice, by presenting and discussing your work in a supportive and constructive atmosphere with fellow artists. Advice and guidance will be tailored to each artist’s needs. Numbers will be capped at 6 participants so that each artist will have a generous amount of time to present their work. Each month you will attend a group zoom session. This will give an opportunity for you to receive personalised advice from Andy as well as participating in a broader group discussion. Participants may present a 3 or 4 paintings each time, plus some supporting work such as drawings or sketchbooks. Encouragement and advice will be given for work to be done during the 4 weeks between the sessions, and the private online group will provide space for an informal exchange and discussion of ideas, questions, issues. This space will mainly be for students to share work and Andrew will participate from time to time. Being part of a small group of fellow artists provides a valuable sense of community and a source of constructive critique over an extended period of time, which can really help you take your work to the next level. The three months of mentoring aims to build confidence in the individual and support the development and progress of their artistic goals. A balanced emphasis will be placed upon development of practical skills alongside the enhancement of imaginative and creative frameworks. The programme is open to artists at any stage in their career. Andrew James NEAC RP
Andrew is a member both of The New English Art Club and The Royal Society of Portrait Painters, of which he was formally its Vice President. He is an immensely popular artist and tutor, with his work in constant demand. The work itself is recognised for capturing resemblance and vitality of his subjects through employing a richness of texture, a heightened and expressive colour use and a boldness of gestural brushwork. Although a painter of various genre he is largely recognised for his non commissioned and more personal portrait painting.
