I found this exercise challenging spending 4 separate sessions adding, scraping back, adjusting. The overall shape of the head, lips/chin balance looks off to me. I was trying not to use brown so much as Samir suggested in my last feedback whilst connecting elements of the green and blue in both the portrait and background. I feel I am just beginning to grasp this medium and how to apply the layers in subtle ways to suggest form rather than making it obvious.

Hi Joanna! I was thinking about the question you asked during your painting critique about good references for learning portrait drawing. I’ve found his videos really helpful, so I thought I’d share it with you: https://youtu.be/paAyHwSZCb0?si=7O-90_eRqVg5Lpbi

hope it’s useful! Aside from that, I really liked your painting, I’m looking forward to seeing your future work 🙂

Hi Gabriela, thank you for supportive comments and recommendation to watch Stephen Bauman which I have done, twice and wow, he makes it so clear how to execute the proportions of a head shape accurately. Portraiture is a new learning curve for me having come from still life and landscapes. Really appreciate.
