I have enjoyed using pencil, crayon, candle wax resist and salt on my paintings recently. And here is one where I think I used all of those except the wax.

You’ve got a lovely range of textures and tones here Juli – always good to experiment with different media. This is using water-based media I think?
Yes, water based media and pencil, crayon, on paper. I was away from my acrylics for a few weeks so had to improvise.
ahhh I am not sure. The salt certainly had a nice effect but quite a subtle one. I’m afraid I don’t know about other types of paint, but I do see people using all sorts of mediums to texture their work in galleries.
Great fun to play with all those different mediums (media?). I haven’t tried wax resist since schooldays, – wow, & salt – what does that do? Can salt be used with nay medium , or just water based?
