I tried again with huge brushes & bigger, bolder marks. It’s the lake where I swim, not far from home & a counterpoint to the gloomy painting posted earlier! I am finding the big brush and slippery paint quite tricky to control, but it was good fun & learning so much about paint & how I like to paint. I think it’s going to take a while for me to get the hang of this. Ps – has anyone used Michael Harding Miracle Medium? I’ve just tried Sennelier Green Oil, but hate the smell of it

Thanks Louise – I loved painting this one! It’s 50×40 on panel. Im about to order from Jackson;s so I’ll add Gamsol to list. This one was interesting to paint, i made the paint thinner than usual so that the brush pushed the paint more easily across the surface – what fun!

Well done for tackling a painting with big brushes – what size is this Karen? I like the composition and the energy in the brushstrokes. I haven’t tried the Miracle Medium, I’d be interested in feedback. It seems quite pricey – my go-to is a roughly 50/50 mix of linseed oil and Gamsol, which is a low-odour solvent. The question of mediums is very personal and endlessly fascinating!
