This is an oil painting I completed about a month ago. It's 10×10" on panel and I was thinking of stormy conditions at the coast that I have witnessed in recent times.

Lots of energy in the sky Philip! And I like the way the colours in the sea are picked up in the sky. That’s a very perceptive comment Christopher – I feel the broken horizon helps to avoid a solid horizontal mark which would have the effect of cutting the painting in half
I really agree with your comment about ‘horizons’, Louise. I had not fully considered the impact a solid horizontal mark might have on a painting’s composition and subtler portrayal of movement. Much food for thought here…
Hi Philip, thanks so much you for your comment on my paintings in the Gallery. I appear to be having a problem getting the ‘likes’ to work, so will be interested to see whether this changes in the coming days.
Two particular points of interest on your seascape picture: the gyrating cloud formations and the undulating horizon. Both these features seem to have the interesting effect of enhancing one another to reinforce the elemental power of the scene.
Hi Christopher, thank you for your comments on my painting. I always welcome feedback, as it helps me see work in a fresh light.
I’m enjoying this course, I hope you are too.
Hi Philip, glad you are enjoying the Course, so am I.
