This was my first attempt at copying inspired by the October 2023 lesson. Working from Turner’s Evening of the Deluge. Some challenges with the colored pencils matching and blending colors. Wanted to keep it fresh but it feels a bit amorphous. Maybe I need to start just working with black and white or grayscale?

That’s a really nice transcription Bryan, the coloured pencils force you to deconstruct the composition into different colour areas. Something like pastel would give a more painterly effect but again you need quite a specific range of colours to exactly copy Turner’s palette. Doing it in greyscale would be another useful exercise- you can get compressed charcoal in greyscale which would be nice to use
