This is St Michaels Mount in Cornwall, painted several years ago, against today’s re working of it. I’ve lightened the water, completely changed the sky, removed the yacht and added people on the beach. Q) would you have gone further? And made bolder changes?

Hi Julian, very interesting to see these two versions. The original painting had quite a moody feel whereas the new one has lighter, brighter colours the Mount still stands out very dramatically though. I’m always quite drawn personally to the more subdued palette but otherwise I feel they’re both working well, just a different atmosphere in each
