I was in this situation with a horizon line that was a little too straight and boring. By trying to preserve certain details that I liked, the painting looked constrained, static, and a little frozen. I thought it was finished, but something still bothered me. The sky was also a little too uniform, with very similar brushstrokes, and needed movement. But above all, by deciding to break up the horizon, I was able to regain freedom of expression.

It’s so interesting to see these two versions Benedicte. I think you’re right that the horizon in the earlier version was very straight, which does give a rather static feeling. The new version is much more lively and interesting, well done!
