← Quick pastel sketch in local woodland,amazingly the sun was shining. A first ‘big’ oil painting. It’s roughly 60cm sq on paper, only allowed myself to use big brushes. It felt like a very big blank space to fill and used far more paint than I had mixed & ready. What a learning curve this was, moving from terrified at the huge expanse of blankness, tentatively dabbing on paint, to using an entire arm, then the rest of the body joining §in. No thinking involved in this once it got going. It’s interesting how the paint & the process of paint going onto paper draws you in, until that moment when you find yourself back standing in front of the painting rather than in it…..I’m going to be hooked on this very soon….. →

Thanks Louise – i think the clouds are still a bit ‘white’’- making a painting always surprises me

Interesting to compare this with the earlier study, this has a quieter atmosphere I would say. Nice marks in the sky!
