Autumn Storm . Oil on paper, palette knife Louise Balaam - Monthly Landscape Painting Autumn Storm . Oil on paper, palette knife Skills Posted on November 26, 2023 ← A3 oil on paper. I brushed on the first stage and then used a knife to add the thicker top using a 50/50 Linseed/Zest it. Because the paint is difficult to control there is mixing going on the surface but it has lead to a more fluid/active image, I think? Here is a recent oil sketch size 10” x 8” of a threatening sky over the breakwaters at Ramsgate in Kent. I paint many of these and smaller size 6” x 8” in about an hour out doors. It’s now getting a bit too cold for plein air here, so will try to work up some larger works in the studio. →
