Here’s a loose watercolour and gouache painting I made after visiting Malta for a few days. I made a sketch of this scene when I was there, and also took lots of photographs for reference. But I was trying not to look at them when I did this. All feedback welcome

    I particularly like the mottled greens and oranges in the foreground, and the way they are repeated in the sky at a different scale. I don’t get much sense of distance for the hills. If the edges of the land were less distinct perhaps that might suggest distance and enhance perspective, I’m not sure.

    Nice delicate texture of the watercolour Juli and I like the limited palette. As it stands the hill in the middle is very dominant, it might be worth thinking of ways to subdue it a bit so that other aspects of the painting can come to the fore
