I haven’t done any assignments as yet, but this is one I painted at the end of our stupidly hot dry summer just after the forest fire escaped onto the cropped fields. Too close to home to be comfortable…..this was my response to walking through that burned landscape. I ‘watered’ down the oil paint with a lot of linseed oil & turpentine.

Those fires must have been very frightening Karen. This is a very striking image, I like the darkness of the scorched earth contrasted with the pale sky
Oh, this will be a nice project to document the new live. I’m looking forward to seeing it!
Thanks Elke…happily she is recovering & green shoots are everywhere,. I’ll paint teh new growth & the energy of it. And thank you for encouragement! If youre having tech problems send a message/email to Luke – he’s the tech fix-it person – he’s brilliant at fixing!
The forest fires are really tragic. Nevertheless, your painting is beautiful. I like that you painted such a vibrant earth. It is comforting to know that she will indeed recover. By the way, congratulations on your sales and the wonderful sales location! Unfortunately, I can’t write anything in the chat; the technology immediately deletes all my words.
