← Also off the back of the Turner lesson (October 2023), I did this charcoal transcription of Colin McCahon’s ‘A Southern Landscape, 1950’. McCahon is my favourite artist, and painted very stylised and increasingly simplified/abstracted landscapes. (He was also known for using words in his paintings, particularly in his later work which consisted almost entirely of white words on a black background. I love pretty much all of it). In particular, with this painting, I love the moonlight on the water contrasted with the shadow of the hills. I didn’t get round to doing a painted transcription. (See my message in the chat.)
