A couple of hours of right brain painting. Standing up, no detail drawing, acrylics, ink, charcoal pencil, indanthrene blue, titanium white and burnt umber on paper. When left brain wanted me to fiddle around with small brushes it was time to stop.

The woods near a wetland not too far from my house; a couple snow-covered rocks. Watercolor sketch with charcoal and a smoosh of acrylic ink(the ink after I got home). The snow was really too wet to sit on, even with my little pad, so I practiced trying to keep everything together and dry while standing up.

Painted many years ago on small wood panel 12x 8″. I am trying to replicate it but on a much larger canvas and using a palette knife. Sadly my attempts have lost the freshness of the original. I am inclined to look at it for a good while and then have a go at reproducing it without looking at the original again. I have also forgotten where in Venice I made this oil sketch. Perhaps sommeone migh trecognise the place.

Trying something different. As a printmaker not a painter I’ve been trying to loosen up and experiment across a wide range of mediums, hopefully to improve and expand my work. It’s been really interesting and thought provoking so far.
Water mixable oils on board – after a trip to London. A work in progress, set aside and returned to several times. Still ongoing.
