← Moving on to a finished painting: second pass. Briefly, the green areas in the sky were de-emphasised but retained; the vertical brush marks on the left were removed and the sky was given more tonal range. I attempted to use a right brain approach when making the changes although I probably lapsed back into my usual thinking mode now and again. The marks in the sky tend to be in one direction and I’m still deciding how to add variety to that. Many thanks Louise and others for very useful feedback. River watercolour sketch →

The colours of the watercolours are so vibrant…you’ve got me thinking about buying some of these paints

Love it Elizabeth! I don’t use many watercolours but I understand Daniel Smith are very good. I think with watercolour you really notice a difference in quality and pigment strength- definitely worth getting artists’ quality (unlike with my oils) because the pigment strength is so important
