On-site painting of wild phlox in bloom, oil on paper. I’m not sure about that green V in the lower left quadrant – probably too prominent? I also questioned the violet horizontal that moves slightly diagonally from upper left to center right; perhaps it should be broken into with some other colors?

    This is really nice Elizabeth- very fresh and lively. I really admire the way you’ve used almost abstract marks but have kept the sense of the plant. I don’t have a problem with the pale green V shaped marks, I think that gives an element of structure, or the horizontal mark which adds some stability. Lovely brushwork altogether!.
