This is the last painting I did – it’s quite recent, a remembering of the summer. It’s 60x 80 in oil mostly splurged on with a palette knife ( ok, so added, scraped off, added again, until I got fed up with it). I would love your thoughts, you all are such a great bunch of people to offer a critique. Ps – It’s good to be back here..!

Thank you everyone, I really appreciate your feedback on this one., you’re all very encouraging., because I’m seriously wobbling about continuing to paint..

Very nice Karen! There’s a clear focal point in the centre of the painting- maybe as Mike says the tonal contrast here is a tad strong. Really like the composition and the foreground plants are very nicely handled

This certainly conjours up summer for me. My eye was immediatly drawn to all the delicate areas of colour in the foreground. The bottom corners are less well defined and this contrasts very well with the definition in the flowers and sets them off nicely. I like the way we look through the taller plants to the middle and background, which have sufficient interest without being overpowering. My only question is whether the central area of light in the sky above the dark tree line is a little too dominant and perhaps pulls the eye from the main event.
